Yoga goes far beyond your mat. In addition to the physical happiness that practicing yoga brings, Yoga philosophy and its principles provide guidance to a happy, healthy mind and body. We’re putting together habits and tips to help you move and live mindfully.
Set your alarm 10 minutes earlier to avoid any anxious feelings of being rushed. Be patient with the process of waking up, and give yourself the gift of time and attention. Close your eyes, and take the time to be in your own mind for a few moments in order to take control of your mindset. Starting the day mindfully puts you in control and allows you to choose positive actions that nourish you, instead of allowing the things that are out of our control to take control of your mindset. If you go into the day connecting to and controlling how you feel, you gain the mental strength and awareness necessary to brush off the things that would otherwise get in the way of your positivity.
Make a Plan
Whether you take it day to day, or plan out your whole week, make a list of the things you want to do to create what a successful day/week looks like for your life. Plans and lists are a tactic for clearing, and thus focusing the mind, because the items on your list live in the back of your mind, but are now put down in a permanent place to get checked-off.
Start by writing down everything you want to do (or need to do). Then, allow yourself the time to decide when and where these tasks will best fit into your day or week.
Put simply, you will feel better (healthier, happier, and stronger) when you practice yoga. The goal of a "Happy Flow" is to hold asanas, or poses, that draw you out of your mind, and into your heart to increase energy. Start by closing your eyes to observe how your body feels, completely free of judgement. Then, explore poses in which you surprise yourself, or challenge you, but still feel really good.
